The 2009 NZPA South Island 9 Ball Championships were held on the 5th and 6th of September 2009, at Pockets Bar & Billiards, Christchurch.

The Men’s field was strong across all sections, with a strong presence of Dunedin players, and a large number of strong players coming in unranked and upsetting the seeding system. The Women’s draw of 12 players comprised of two sections, which was great to see, yet only one of the eight Dunedin players managed to break the ranks of the Semi-Finals, which were dominated by Canterbury players.

There were many close games throughout the post-section play, but it was great to see an all-Canterbury final in both events, and it was great to see so many travelling up from Dunedin for this event. The draw for this event is available by clicking here.
